The two American hikers currently imprisoned in Iran will not be freed as quickly as originally anticipated according to their lawyer, Masoud Shafiee.

While the estimated bail of about $500,000 each has already been paid on behalf of both Josh Fattal and Shane Bauer, Shafiee told CNN he needs two more signatures on paperwork from judges to prove it, and one of the judges is on vacation until Tuesday.

The two men and a third hiker, Sarah Shourd, were arrested by Iranian authorities while allegedly hiking in the Kurdish region of northern Iraq. Authorities claimed they were spies who entered the country illegally. Shourd was released for medical reasons last year, although the Iranian government says her case is still open.

Fattal and Bauer were convicted last month for spying and entering the country illegally and were sentenced to eight years in prison. Four American Muslim and Christian leaders met with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahamdinejad to discuss releasing the hikers Sunday.

“If the U.S. is so sensitive about two of its spies and tries to free them, it should look at the way it treats other nationalities,” said Mohammad Javad Larijani, head of the human rights department of the Iranian judiciary, in an interview Sunday with the Fars news agency.
