Getting to the Business of Business Litigation

Although Snellings Law LLC has been in operation for just a few months, founder Robert S. Snellings is no freshman when it comes to law practice. Prior to starting his own law firm – which he calls his “crowning achievement” – Snellings enjoyed a distinguished career as a litigation attorney following graduation from the prestigious Seton Hall University School of Law a decade ago.

With significant experience representing individuals, regional banks, national financial institutions and small to large businesses peppered all over the country, Parsippany, NJ-based Snellings routinely handles contract disputes and debt collection matters in large volumes. He also engages in a considerable number of real estate transactions, representing purchasers, sellers and lenders in the sale of houses, condos and co-ops.

Setting himself apart from others in the competitive law industry, Snellings cites what he calls the little things. “I take a very hands-on approach with every client. I listen to their goals and create a cost efficient strategy that I update when needed as the case moves along. Getting clients involved right from the start is key. When they call me, I answer. That’s what clients are looking for. I am always connected. I always respond to calls, emails and texts promptly.”

In fact, thanks to advances in cloud computing and mobile communications, Snellings says he is able to use technology to keep costs down. Even better, he is able to pass those savings on to clients. “Low administrative overhead allows my firm to offer very reasonable and competitive rates. It permits us to stay within clients’ parameters,” Snellings explained.

Staying nimble – and mindful of the rapidly changing landscape that continues to redefine how lawyers practice, has helped Snellings build long-term relationships. Acknowledging that the legal system is continuously evolving, one area he would really like to see revamped is the way cases flow through the legal system. “Cases need to move more swiftly through the court system to reduce the backlog. Lawyers should strive to follow – and judges should enforce – time deadlines,” Snellings emphasized.

To be sure, every year in New Jersey alone, about seven million new cases are filed at the state level, according to New Jersey Court System data. These cases run the gamut from education to the environment to wills to crimes to car accidents to taxes to divorces – even to our basic rights as Americans, such as freedom of speech.

Speaking about his future plans, Snellings says that his aim is to grow the firm and to continue to put his clients’ priorities first. “We’re on a great path. We’re going in the right direction and changing with the times,” Snellings said.  Indeed, after all, change is the law of life.
