A Client-Driven Practice

Eric Kearney, Senior Investment Advisor of Retirement Wealth Advisors, empowers his clients to make sound investment decisions with the guidance, education, tools and resources he puts at their fingertips. He also trusts, values and respects clients' opinions on how he can provide the best possible service.

As in many firms, there are weekly updates, quarterly phone calls, client appreciation events and semi-annual portfolio reviews. What makes Retirement Wealth unique is that Kearney invites eight clients to serve on an advisory board. Meeting quarterly, they provide feedback, suggestions and constructive criticism about how the firm can better serve client needs.
“Instead of an advisor-driven practice, it is now a client-driven practice,” Kearney emphasized.

His clients – typically investors who’ve already accumulated at least $500,000 in investable assets – appreciate mutual trust and value long-term strategy over chasing trends. They believe in “hard work, discipline, and a well thought-out, sophisticated portfolio,” Kearney noted.

To add another layer of confidence, he provides clients with a Personal Financial Blueprint every six months – and Kearney makes sure they know how to read and understand all of the information provided in this comprehensive report. “Once they learn this,” he said, “it truly does keep us accountable to them on how capable we have been in managing their money.”

Believing that financial literacy is paramount for a client’s ability to manage wealth, especially in today’s post-recession climate where volatility has become the norm, Kearney said, “It is very important that we teach our clients about their standard deviation. We teach them how much risk and volatility is in their portfolio.”

“Technology is something else that they crave,” he added. By integrating robust tools like aggregation software and portfolio monitoring software, Retirement Wealth is able to “provide them with everything they want, so they can just enjoy their retirement.”

While he doesn’t get caught up in the dollar amounts brought in by new client accounts, he always finds the stories behind how they earned and worked for their wealth to be inspirational. “The people I have met over the years have been phenomenal,” Kearney said. “I cannot put a price tag on that – and on the work we do to put people in a better financial situation.”
