A Clear Broadcast

As the president of Videoscope, it is Eric Vidal’s job to make sure that the Miami-based distributor of broadcast audio and video equipment stays up-to-date. He founded the business in 1997, selling just one line of broadcast parts from his garage. Since then, Videoscope has evolved into a multimillion-dollar operation, becoming the number one distributor in South Florida of Sony and Panasonic Professional Broadcast Equipment.

Despite Videoscope’s successful rise through the broadcast manufacturing industry, the company has not been without its challenges. “We’re entering our digital era, and tapes are things of the past,” Vidal said. The advent of personal audio and video appliances means that many people are becoming their own videographers, making it harder to distribute broadcast material. “Before it was Sony and Panasonic; now in the future, I don’t know,” said Vidal. “Now even your phones can film in high quality.”

But Eric Vidal has overcome plenty of challenges and seized many opportunities throughout his business ownership career. He abides by three standards of quality. “First, we’re fully staffed,” he said. Videoscope has 25 fully capable employees in fully capable departments, each running at 100 percent efficiency. “Furthermore,” says Vidal, “We’ve been established for a long time.” Unlike like other fly-by-night companies, Videoscope’s 14 years of service to the broadcasting industry have proven their reliability, even while the broadcast industry changes to accommodate digital technologies. Finally, “Videoscope provides a full service for our customers.” Great service is a high priority for Vidal and his team, and they have the capacity to fulfill the needs of even the most demanding clients. Videoscope stocks more than 3,000 products, has access to an additional 1 million parts and products, and has relationships with over 150 manufacturers, such as AJA, Datavideo, Sennheiser, Manfrotto, Roland, Sound Devices and others. The company’s success is a direct result of such comprehensive service and capabilities.

It is certain that with Vidal’s careful leadership, Videoscope will continue its impressive record of growth far into the future. “We plan to stay here for a very long time,” he said.
