Cbeyond Earns Spot on the 2013 Information Week 500 List

ATLANTA, Sept. 16, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Cbeyond Inc. (Nasdaq:CBEY), the technology ally to small and mid-sized businesses (SMBs), today announced it made this year's Information Week 500 -- a list of the top technology innovators in the U.S. Since its founding in 1999, Cbeyond has continuously innovated to meet the needs of the SMB community, culminating in recognition on Information Week 500 list. "As a company Cbeyond is continually defining and driving innovative products, services and integrated solutions designed to meet the specific needs of small and mid-sized businesses," said Carrie Wheeler, senior vice president and chief information officer at Cbeyond. "For the past 24 months our technology professionals have been laser focused on providing new capabilities and transforming our business. A great example is our TotalCloud Phone System Cloud PBX offering which is the result of the great teamwork and collaboration that exists across the company."

In 2012 Cbeyond initiated and completed development of a Cloud-based PBX offering, TotalCloud Phone System (TCPS), taking the service from concept to full deployment in just nine months. The service enables small and mid-sized businesses to inexpensively replace their capital intensive, on-premise PBX equipment with cloud-based services. In
addition to sophisticated phone system features, this offering provides an optional mobility solution that allows businesses to operate with full phone system functionality when they are outside the office. The business technology initiative required combining network engineering, voice engineering, IT application development and product marketing teams in a cross-functional effort to build out an industry-leading offer, the TotalCloud Phone System (TCPS) service. Specific technologies brought to bear in the deployment include Broadworks Broadsoft, SIP Trunking, HTML5, JQuery and Java for portal development, Siebel CRM, and JBOss SOA for integration services.

"The theme of this year's InformationWeek 500 is digital business. It's a movement, rooted in data analytics, mobile computing, social networking and other customer-focused technologies that are turning companies and industries on their ear," said InformationWeek Editor In Chief Rob Preston. "Every enterprise is now a digital business -- or needs to become one fast. The organizations in our ranking are leading
the way."

InformationWeek identifies and honors the nation's most innovative users of information technology with its annual InformationWeek 500 listing, and also tracks the technology, strategies, investments, and administrative practices of some of the best-known organizations in the country. Past overall winners include Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, PACCAR Inc., The Vanguard Group, CME Group, National Semiconductor, Con-Way, and Principal Financial Group.
