How to Make Yourself More Productive Each Day

If you have the ability to work from home, you know that productivity is tightly linked to self-discipline. You need to know about the little tricks, clever tech and all-important quiet spaces that help you eek out the most productivity you can throughout the day. Here are just a few things to keep in mind:

Create Goals and Objectives

It is easy to lose track of the day if you are not focused. Set goals and objectives for the day to help you stay on task. Goals are your overarching values that drive your decisions. They may include things like making money, developing brand awareness and creating a better world. In comparison, objectives are the specific and measurable ways that goals are achieved. For example, making $150 in a day by selling three items at $50 each is an objective. Daily objectives become a check-off list for your accomplishments as well as a metric for the amount of work you can get done in one day.

Use Tasks and Calendars

With your goals and objectives in mind, use the online world of technology to keep organized and moving forward. Google has great products that are free and cloud-based, so you can access them from anywhere with Wi-Fi. Google’s calendar lets you place your objectives as a function of the day and it has a task list for keeping your day organized. If you want to integrate your work functions into one, large productivity platform, Google Suite has most everything you need to organize, collaborate and produce for a small business or freelancer.

Screen Your Calls

Smartphone technology is a mixed blessing. You can watch movies, listen to music and play games on a smartphone and the distractions can be a problem to your workday productivity. Fortunately, though, smartphone technology knows that distractions are a problem. Smartphones like the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge let you screen calls against your contact list, sending unknown calls directly to voicemail. Instead of interrupting your work, you can pick up calls, texts and emails at a predetermined time so you don't disrupt your productivity.

Make Deals With Yourself

More than 1.2 billion people play games online, according to the State of Online Gaming Report. There is nothing wrong with a little mental relaxation throughout the day as long as it is kept in check. Use your game time as an incentive for good work, and make little deals with yourself. “If I complete this task, then I can play Candy Crush for 15 minutes.” This keeps you mindful of your objectives and the time it takes you to accomplish them.

Crank up the Tunes

Generally speaking, background music increases productivity and work satisfaction. Music without lyrics tends to work better because the words can be distracting. Music sets a pace and mood for your day. Even when performing mundane tasks like typing, music drives your productivity, so plug your earphones into your phone and get the music started.
